Introduction
One Spring Break, on a lark, a friend and I decided to drive to New York City. I’d never been and he’s just gotten a new car. We’d recently watched a program showing cars honking their horns in downtown Manhattan. So of course he wanted to honk the horn of his new car there as well. Of course. Being all of 15 and 17 at the time, we decided this was a most excellent idea and somehow talked our parents into letting us go. It was the 70’s y’all. Stuff like that happened. We got to NYC in just two days by driving with very little sleep and lots of caffeine. Driving into the city was like nothing on TV. It was, to state the obvious, much more real. The buildings towered above us, the traffic was absolute chaos and the sounds almost deafening.
It was glorious.
We made it out of the city alive and back home after many other adventures during our 6 day, 6000 mile trek, but NYC stuck with me. Seeing images on a screen is one thing, seeing the real thing, if only for a bit, is a whole ‘nother thing.
Paul writes about this, in a way, in our text this week. Let’s dig in and see what we can find.
Grace and peace, y’all,

Text:
Lord’s Prayer
Christ, who taught us to pray saying:
Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who’ve sinned against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory forever. Amen.
