Introduction
Have you ever been talking to someone who so thoroughly believed in a fact that you knew to be false that you were in utter disbelief? Like, open-mouth and at-a-loss-for-words type of disbelief?
An example for those who are familiar would be Adam Sandler’s iconic character Bobby Boucher in The Waterboy who, with full confidence, would answer any question with “my mama says…” followed by some absurd fact akin to alligators or happiness. Regardless of the topic or his mama’s credentials, to him she was always right.
If anyone told you that ‘alligators are ornery because they got all them teeth and no toothbrush’, as Bobby Boucher did, hopefully your response would be “who told you that?!?!” Chapter 12 of 2 Corinthians sounds like a constantly exasperated Paul asking the Corinthians why they continue to believe in false theology, why they continue to elevate the super-apostles over him, instead of leaning on the truth of Jesus Christ.
Let’s dive into chapter 12 this week as Paul asks the Corinthians “who told you that?!?”

Text:
Lord’s Prayer
Christ, who taught us to pray saying:
Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who’ve sinned against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory forever. Amen.
