Introduction
Well friends, we’re just about half way through our summer series on faith and feelings. There have been some really sweet times of discussion and listening to each other all the while digging well below the surface of how our emotions and faith interact. This week we’re looking at comparison, which isn’t an emotion itself but one that leads to all kinds of emotions. Can’t wait to dig into this with y’all.
Grace and peace y’all,

There’s a great scene in season one of Ted Lasso when one of the characters starts to take pleasure in another character’s misfortunate. Ted immediately responds “no, no, no – this is a no schadenfreude zone” to which Coach Beard chimes in emphatically “Nien schadenfreude!”. The message comes through loud and clear. But it’s not that easy is it? Whole industries and political campaigns are built on not just on winning, but humiliating our perceived opponents. It’s such a ubiquitous part of our culture, it’s almost shocking when we remember that just an attitude is totally contrary to our following Jesus.
